In conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month (Pink October), the beloved natural peanut butter brand, JOBBIE, proudly announced its collaboration with the Malaysian National Cancer Council (MAKNA) to launch a special CSR and educational campaign titled the “Pink Wobbly Breast Odyssey.”
JOBBIE X MAKNA
Officially launched at Damansara Specialist Hospital 2 (DSH2) with over 100 guests, including the public, VIPs, collaborators, media, and content creators, the Jobbie X MAKNA campaign aims to increase breast cancer awareness while supporting MAKNA’s breast health initiatives. Notable attendees included MAKNA’s Deputy GM, Mr. Vemanna Appannah, and social media influencer Maryam You Narae, also known as Maryam Durian Kimchi.
At the campaign launch, JOBBIE unveiled a limited edition of 5,000 specially-designed Jobbie pink jars, each featuring the “Pink Wobbly Breast Odyssey” label. These Jobbie X MAKNA jars are adorned with breast cancer awareness information and a striking pink design, symbolizing the courage and journey of those affected by the disease. For every jar sold, RM1 is donated to MAKNA to support its breast health programs, providing essential resources and care for breast cancer patients.
Pink Wobbly Breast Odyssey
The campaign’s unique name, “Pink Wobbly Breast Odyssey,” encapsulates two key aspects of the cancer journey. “Wobbly” reflects the vulnerability faced by individuals battling breast cancer, while “Odyssey” represents the brave and unique journey of each person navigating the disease. This aligns with JOBBIE’s mission of spreading joy and advocating for a better quality of life.
JOBBIE’s CEO, Mr. Victor Chin, expressed, “Our collaboration with MAKNA serves as a reminder to all Malaysians to actively understand and promote breast health. Early detection saves lives, and the ‘Pink Wobbly Breast Odyssey’ encourages everyone to spread knowledge, support survivors, and contribute to breast cancer research and care.” He continued, “At JOBBIE, we believe that just as our peanut butter spreads joy, we want to spread hope, cheer, and support to those fighting and surviving breast cancer. This initiative is our way of inspiring Malaysians to recognize the impact of this disease not only on patients but also on their families. We rally the community to support one another and take breast health seriously.”
The launch event featured a vibrant array of health and wellness activities, promoting a holistic approach to breast health care. Guests enjoyed a yoga session, highlighting the importance of mental health for cancer patients. The Wobbly Breast Hall of Fame exhibition presented campaign information and artwork inspired by the Wobbly Breast design. Attendees also participated in experiential stations, creating personal art pieces and receiving complimentary breast cancer screenings, generously sponsored by Damansara Specialist Hospital 2 (DSH2).
Breast cancer remains the most prevalent cancer among women in Malaysia, accounting for 32% of all cancers diagnosed in women. The risk increases with age, with a higher incidence in individuals over 50. Unfortunately, many cases are diagnosed at later stages—almost half at Stage 3 or 4—when treatment options are limited and survival chances decrease. These statistics underscore the critical need for early detection and regular screenings, especially for women over 40, to improve outcomes and reduce breast cancer mortality rates.
At the campaign event, a health expert and a cancer survivor shared valuable insights on cancer care and management. Dr. Haliza Kamarudin, a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist at DSH2, spoke on women’s wellness, emphasizing early screenings like mammograms and self-examinations throughout different life stages. She noted, “Women’s health risks evolve at various life stages, including hormonal changes, menopause, and notably, breast cancer. Regular screenings and early detection are key to prevention or early-stage management, encouraging women to monitor their health and maintain a healthy lifestyle.”
Cancer survivor and advocate Choo Mei Sze shared her personal journey, offering hope and encouragement to others facing similar battles. “Enduring cancer was a lonely journey, especially at a young age, but family support was invaluable. The key is to stay strong, positive, and proactive in managing the disease. I am honored to be part of this initiative, sharing my experience to inspire others fighting their own battles,” she said.
