Hong Kong has long known as “Gourmet Paradise” and “World’s Fair of Food” especially for Cantonese cuisine. The upscale Zuan Yuan Chinese Restaurant at One World Hotel Petaling Jaya has a reputation for fine Cantonese cuisine, and the food is worthy of its repute. If you are looking to spoil your taste buds this October, come to Zuan Yuan as Executive Chinese Chef Tommy Choong Chan Hoo will be showing off his culinary skills and curated a stunning array of Hong Kong signature food for Best of Hong Kong menu.
Best of Hong Kong at Zuan Yuan Chinese Restaurant
Cheese baked dishes have always been known as Hong Kong signature and it’s one of my favorites as well. This dish was baked perfectly and the sweetness of crab meat is balanced with saltiness of the cheese. Who doesn’t like HK Curry Fish Ball? Chef Tommy created his version of curry without using any thickener like corn starch. Pairs really well with fish ball and perfect with rice! Don’t miss the collagen rich fish maw too, girls. This was really awesome! Have you had duck sandwich before? I’m amazed by the creativity of Chef Tommy who made this duck sandwich whereby the crispy roasted duck meat was sandwiched in between delicious tasting yam and fish paste. It makes eating meat not so ‘meaty’ anymore. Can’t help myself from a second helping since this pan fried scallop stuffed with prawn paste is packed a punch with the taste of sea thanks to the combination of scallop, prawn and rich superior sauce. These highlighted Hong Kong specialties are priced from RM48 nett. It is available for lunch (12.00pm to 2.30pm) and dinner (6.00pm to 10.30pm) daily. If the more elaborate dishes are not your cup of tea, Zuan Yuan Chinese Restaurant is often name-dropped as the place for dim sum as well. Dim sum is available for lunch on weekdays as well as breakfast (10.00am to 2.30pm) on weekends and public holidays. Highlight includes Steamed ‘Phoenix Eye’ Dumpling with Water Chestnut, Goose Liver and Caviar, Steamed Wild Rice and Glutinous Rice with Mushrooms and Roasted Duck, Stir Fried Turnip Cake with Prawn and Spicy Sauce, Steamed Hong Kong Rice Roll with Chinese Breadstick and Chicken Floss, Oven Baked Egg Tart and more. Aside from these, there’s also a specially curated Organic Village Chicken menu that will surely entice you. Featuring 5 poultry dishes, the Organic Village Chicken with Chinese Herbs (RM120nett per bird) comes highly recommended and will have you begging for second helping. I always think organic village chicken is a better choice than chemically injected ones. What’s best is when it is cooked with Chinese herbs that can boost our health and well-being. My body (especially tummy) feels really pampered! To savor this nourishing dish, a 24-hour notice is required as there are a lot of preparation, like marinating with assorted herbs and slow cooking to be done. Other highlights in this menu include Steamed Organic Village Chicken with Cordyceps Flower served in Bamboo Basket, Poached Organic Village Chicken with Garden Greens and Dried Scallop Sauce, Smoked Organic Village Chicken and Roasted Organic Village Chicken with Black Truffle Paste. The promotion of the month is priced from RM60.00nett per half bird and is available for lunch and dinner.
