It was my first time at The KL Journal Hotel and I’m honestly surprised by its strategic location. How strategic, you wonder? Well, it’s smack right in the middle of Golden Triangle and less than 500m away from Pavilion KL, Fahrenheit 88, Lot 10 – the KL shopping haven.
The KL Journal Hotel
Despite being located at a prime area, this modern chic boutique hotel is tucked 10 meters away from the hustle and bustle from the main road. This is a great advantage to guests who prefer some peace during snoozing time.
Terrace Bar & Grill @ The KL Journal Hotel
This visit, I was here at The KL Journal Hotel to savour their dinner offerings. The restaurant is called Terrace Bar & Grill which is a part of Workers’ Union, a casual co-working space located on the 1st floor. The Terrace Bar & Grill exudes great vibes through its alfresco style open bar with dimmed lighting for a casual and relaxing ambiance. Watch the day turn to night while being seated on their comfy lounge is the ultimate bliss. We started off our dinner with some healthy greens – SALAD TIME! Anyone who is health conscious should order this Caesar Salad because it is tasty yet not overloaded with calories. Love that they drizzle the fresh romaine, olives, cherry tomatoes and onions with balsamic vinegar because this is the healthier way to enjoy salad! I really really can’t wait to introduce this dish to you guys – Barbeque Glazed Gaucho Beef Ribs! The hickory smoked BBQ sauce is the bomb; not too sweet and not too overpowering. The Angus short ribs were slow-cooked to perfection together with basil pesto. This is the ultimate reason why it is so tender and yummylicious! We attacked this dish all the way… definitely worth our tummy’s quota. Farmer’s Chicken Pie was exceptionally good too! The crust is crispy and fragrant, yet not too thick so you won’t feel like chewing on a lot of carbs. On the inside, there are deliciously slow-cooked chicken cubes in mushroom soup waiting for you. We quite enjoy the grilled chicken and beef satay that night. Using lemongrass to marinate them before grilling makes them taste extra good. The only thing is, we wished there were more fats on it. It also comes with cucumber, shallots, rice cubes, and sweet and spicy peanut dip. If you prefer chicken over beef or vice versa, you can choose 1 type of meat instead of both. If you’re here with a group of friend, I’ll recommend you to try their Fish Head Curry! The huge portion can feed up to 4-6 people. My friend’s been coming back for more of this thick and creamy Fish Head Curry. Guaranteed to be a tummy filler, this dish comes along with a generous amount of eggplant and lady’s finger too. Tip: Fish Head Curry requires at least 1 hour advance reservation as they need to prepare everything from scratch. We started and finished our feast with something healthy today. To end the meal, we enjoyed some fresh tropical fruit selections from Mix Fruit Platter. Every Thursday, The Terrace Bar & Grill will host KL Journal Open Mic whereby different talented local acts will be performing. I truly enjoyed their performances! Couple this with a glass of cocktail or beer, is just the perfect unwinding scene. If this isn’t good enough, how about free cocktails for all the ladies? Yep, their Ladies Night isn’t just one night, but 3 nights! Every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 5 pm – 10 pm, ladies get FREE COCKTAIL of the day! The unique thing about The Terrace Bar & Grill is, you can get your cocktail customized! You just need to let the bartender know what kind of taste you want and he’ll make you a special concoction. Apart from cocktails, they also have a wide array of alcoholic beverages. Anyone wants a beer? The place is open air, but if it rains (you know how crazy Malaysia’s weather is), there will be a sliding roof that will protect you from getting wet. On rare occasions, you might be able to catch me, pretending to sing too! ? Address: Terrace Bar & Grill @ The KL Journal Hotel No. 30, Jalan Beremi,
