I was totally exhilarated when I get to know that I’ll be boarding the Costa Victoria on a 5D4N trip. At the same time, a few friends asked me, “But won’t you feel bored being on a cruise for 5 days? That’s too long!”. After experiencing it, I can safely conclude that 5 days 4 nights is just right to enjoy all the facilities on board! Don’t believe me? Follow me as I list out all the activities you can do when onboard Costa Victoria. First things first; let’s get to know more about Costa Victoria and things that you need to take note.
Overview of Costa Victoria
Costa Victoria is owned and operated by the leading cruise company in Europe, Costa Crociere. Costa Victoria is an elegant Victoria-class cruise ship that boasts traditional nautical style married with essential design. The chic interior of the cruise ship is filled with exclusive blend of prestigious furnishings and works of art that exudes luxurious Italian craftsmanship. Costa Victoria has a total of 964 cabins with passenger capacity of 2,394 guests. There are a few lines that Costa Victoria go to but our itinerary is Singapore (Singapore Cruise Centre) – Phuket (Chokaree Pier) – Penang (Swettenham Pier Cruise Terminal) – Singapore so we had a short stopover at Phuket and Penang respectively. “Today” is the ultimate guide on where to eat, what programmes they have for guests on board and everything you need to know about what’s going to happen on that particular day. Before the day ends, our cabin steward will deliver a copy of “Today” into our room so we can plan in advance ?
Important! Your Costa Card
Once you’re aboard Costa Victoria, head to your cabin room to get your Costa Card. This Costa Card has a 3-in-1 function: it is your digital room key, your identification card and charge card while you’re on the cruise. After getting your Costa Card, remember to link your charge card to your Costa Card so your purchases can be billed directly to your charge card. With this, you don’t have to waste time queuing up to settle your bill later.
10 Interesting Things You Can Do Onboard Costa Victoria
Enjoy the cozy cabin room The warm lights and comfy bed welcomed me as soon as I opened the room door. It’s a sin if I don’t respond to the bed’s seductive call. If you booked the Balcony Classic or Balcony Premium cabin, it would be even more enjoyable because the beautiful sea view is just a few steps away from your room! Admire the view anytime you feel like it. For couples who plan to spend their honeymoon on Costa Victoria, they do offer a special honeymoon package that comes with a bottle of wine.
Join the Victoria Gala Dinner Dressed up to the nines with your fellow buddies and join the Gala Dinner. You can opt for either Easy Dining A la Carte or Easy Dining Buffet. For us, it’s definitely a la carte style. This is the night where you get to taste specially curated scrumptious Venetian dinner menu. Buon appetito! In view that there are many Asians on board, Asian style food are also available for us to choose. But as Costa Victoria is an Italian cruise, I prefer to stick to Italian food and taste the authentic Italian flavors.
Attend the Carnival of Venice celebration! The most anticipated Italian experience on Costa Victoria is the Carnival of Venice. The Carnival of Venice is an annual festival held in Venice, Italy, and is attracting approximately 3 million visitors every year. When the time is up, we wore our gorgeous party evening dress, put on the complimentary Venice mask supplied by Costa and went to the Main Hall. After wearing the mask, we don’t have to be shy anymore. We can let go completely, dance crazily, and enjoy this Carnival of Venice Party at sea. At this moment, we let go of ourselves regardless of race, religion, skin color, and gender. IT WAS SUPER FUN! Definitely a night to remember!
Do good by supporting Suspended Coffee Campaign by Hwajing Suspended Coffee (caffe sospeso) is a 100-year old Italian tradition from Naples. The concept of paying it forward is very meaningful. When you buy yourself a cup of coffee, remember those who couldn’t afford to buy one for themselves. Pay for a second one so that they can redeem it for free. The warmth from your kindness will certainly radiate in their heart and tummy. You can do this at The Grand Bar Orpheus on Deck 6. I think this is especially meaningful for the cruise crews who have been working hard to serve the passengers of Costa Victoria.
Jacuzzi hydro massage baths on Deck 11 On Costa Victoria, there are 4 jacuzzi hydro massage baths beside its outdoor pool on Deck 11. Getting a good hydro massage session while watching the sun set is the best feeling ever!
Have a soak in the indoor swimming pool @ Pompei Spa At Pompei Spa on Deck 6, you will find the ship’s adult only indoor pool. The pool water contains sea salt which is good for the skin and overall wellbeing. I had a soaking good time with my BFFs, followed by a sauna session too!
Make new friends! In the event when there’s no Wi-Fi, everyone will talk to each other. Just when you thought that you couldn’t live without Internet, you’ll be surprised to find that you actually can! And this is how I met all these awesome friends who are extremely humorous. All we did was entertaining each other with jokes and never ending puns.
Catch a show at Festival Theatre Each night, be awed with unique performances from talented people lined up to awe your senses at Festival Theatre. It’s a programme not to be missed! Performances include musical, comedy, aerial silk, dance and singing!
Feast to the fullest On Costa Victoria, there wasn’t a time when I felt hungry. Looking back, it’s actually quite amusing. They serve food 24 hours around the clock. All you have to do is refer to “Today” to see where they’re serving the food. They have all sorts of food which includes Italian dishes like pizzas, pastas, and premium Italian wine. Cheers to a gastronomical journey!
Exercise at the Jogging Track I’m sure you’ll stuff yourself silly while onboard Costa Victoria, just like us because there are so many food selections! For health conscious people, don’t forget to burn some calories at the jogging track. The best time would be during sunset or sunrise because you get to enjoy the view while working out! I have been waking up at 5-ish and 6-ish every morning, hoping to be able to catch sunrise but it was just too cloudy. Lucky me, I was able to see it one morning after I decided to go for a jog. The clouds just moved away for me to catch a glimpse of the sun!
BONUS:
If you’re a Christian devotee, there’s a small Chapel next to Festival Theater on Deck 7 that you can use. Aside from this, there are also yoga classes, dance lessons, and a basketball court you can explore. So there’s really a lot to do! Take some time to explore around, just like a detective! Now, I’m sure you’ll be thinking “But I can’t afford this!” because most of my friends actually thought that the price would be starting from few thousands onwards. The GOOD NEWS is, it’s not as expensive as you thought! The starting price for this 5 Days 4 Nights trip (Singapore – Phuket – Penang – Singapore) is only RM 749! If it is still not low enough for you, do consider their 4 Days 3 Nights trip (Singapore – Melaka – Penang – Singapore) trip which starts from RM 699 onwards! Isn’t this super affordable?
