After arriving Ao Nang from Krabi airport via public bus, we quickly checked in to Vogue Resort & Spa Ao Nang. Very very happy with the room but we were starving. So out we went for food hunting and found Ao Nang Boat Noodle on Foursquare!
What to Eat in Krabi: Ao Nang Boat Noodle
It seriously wasn’t easy finding this place via GPS because the location on Waze and Google Maps wasn’t that accurate (or maybe it’s phone signal problem). In the end, we had to go into hotels along the way and ask the staff instead. Turns out that we’ve been going up and down on passing the restaurant but we missed the sign! FUH~~
So, here’s a tip: Look for The Cliff Ao Nang Resort’s sign while searching instead. You’re welcome!
You can choose to sit at the lower floor or the upper floor of the restaurant. The lower floor has a round table seating style like a bar and there are more people there. We decided to sit upstairs because it’s empty and the space is more roomy. But the heat is killing though… It’s covered with roof but no walls. I wonder how people eat when it rains.
Notice the details – The chairs and tables are made of bamboos!
While waiting for our boat noodles to come, we had this crispy pork rind snack to cure our hunger. So nice! It’s only 10 baht per pack. Do you know that pork rind is actually a by-product from pork lard rendering? No wonder this snack is so widely available in Thailand – because they consume a lot of pork!
Due to the heat, we couldn’t help but ordered iced beverages. As a coffee addict, it’s only normal for me to order Ice Thai Coffee with Milk (30 baht). Clumsy Boy wanted something special so he had Ice Hale’s Blue Boy with soda and lemon (40 baht). You might think that since it’s “blue boy”, it must be in blue color, right? Haha wrong! Hale’s Blue Boy is the brand name, it’s actually red sala syrup. Tastes quite refreshing with lemon.
When at Ao Nang Boat Noodle, you eat Boat Noodles of course! You can choose between pork or beef; both are equally good and it’s only 50 baht per bowl. Unlike the ones in KL where you need to eat 10 bowl to finally feel full, these are in normal portion.
The broth was heavenly – thick and flavorful broth cooked with different types of herbs, accompanied by lots of meat slices and pork/beef balls.
After our hearty meal at Ao Nang Boat Noodle, we went shopping for tour packages for activities in Krabi. In the end, we decided to go for Kayaking in Krabi @ Ao Thalene. Follow the link to read about my experience!
