Review: Isolaz – Acne Treatment by Solta Medical

Isolaz treatment review
I have been suffering from severe acne since 15 years old. I’ve tried countless over-the-counter acne medications but to no avail. People said that acne will be gone after teenage years, but not for me. Pimples will still pop up every now and then, although not as bad as it did during my teenage years. My confidence is low due to pimples and I always wondered how people would judge me. Will they think that I didn’t clean my face properly? Pimples are obviously not caused by that although many people assumes that. And I’m sure not many people understand the physical and emotional toll acne takes on a person.

Review: Isolaz – Acne Treatment by Solta Medical

Finally determined to get rid of acne, I visited Dr. Liow Tiong Sin 3 weeks ago and explained my situation to him. I didn’t know what treatment to do initially so I decided to leave the decision to the expert. Tentatively, Dr. Liow suggested that I do Isolaz treatment – a unique acne therapy that combines the power of vacuum and the proven benefits of broadband light to fight the root causes of acne. This was the first time I heard of Isolaz so I needed to get more information about it before deciding to do it or not.

According to Dr. Liow, anyone who suffers from acne can opt for Isolaz treatment. If you have inflamed skin, you will be able to see the result even clearer. Now, the big question of course is: Will there be any side effect? There was a glow of hope for me when I heard that there’s no side effect at all except mild redness for around half an hour after the treatment.

After a consultation session with Dr. Liow, I was brought into a room by a friendly nurse. She asked me to lie down on the bed and then proceeded to remove my makeup. Gosh, she did it so gently and it felt so comfortable I nearly dozed off!

I was really glad that Isolaz is a non-invasive treatment as I’m super afraid of going under the knife. That being said, I still feel nervous because I seriously don’t know what to expect. I lay down on the bed again and after Dr. Liow confirmed that Isolaz is the most suitable treatment based on my skin concerns, he proceeded to start the treatment.

Impurities being sucked out (Ewww...)
Impurities being sucked out (Ewww…)

The process was as simple as ABC! First, water was sprayed onto my face. Then, Dr. Liow used the vacuum device on Isolaz machine to suck out impurities from my pores, followed by a flashing light and ‘PPAK’ sound. Apparently, the flashing light is a form of light therapy to kill acne-causing bacteria and promotes faster healing. This process was repeated for the whole face and duration varies depending on skin condition. Mine lasted for less than 15 minutes because my condition isn’t as severe. The entire treatment was painless most of the time except on the eye area because the skin over there is most sensitive. I can feel the suction and warm sensation but it’s bearable and most importantly, worth to bear!

After the treatment, my skin did look a little reddish but the redness subsided in 15 minutes! Phew~~ Oh, and I can also resume my daily skincare regime as usual! Very convenient, right? Dr. Liow also mentioned that around 4-5 treatments are needed for more long lasting result. I only had 1 treatment though but I noticed a drastic improvement on my skin! To be honest, it’s quite unbelievable! Despite lack of sleep and during menstruation period, not a single pimple popped out. Nowadays, I just use a light BB cream on my face to even out the skin tone. I don’t need to use concealer anymore! I’ll definitely recommend this to everyone who is suffering from acne problem.

Must give Dr. Liow thumbs up for his expertise!
