- When my dad was in the climax of his career, many people sent him hampers and CNY cards. As year passed, it got lesser and lesser and finally decrease to nil.
- Last time, the only way to avoid giving out angpau to your neighbour’s kids is to hide yourself in the house. If you’re caught outside by the kids, consider yourself unlucky. But now, even if I saw my neighbour and wished them Gong Xi Fa Cai, they still pretend nothing happened. I should have wished them Gong Xi Fai Cai instead.
- During reunion dinner, everyone talked in Hokkien, not bothering that I couldn’t understand.
- As usual, aunt didn’t eat reunion dinner with my grandma (mum’s side) and mum didn’t eat reunion dinner with my grandma (dad’ side) due to unknown family problems. CNY will only make me realize how disunited my family is.
So this is what Hokkien usually eat for Chinese New Year reunion dinner (at least for my family).
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL MY READERS! LOVE U ALL!
Do follow me via Twitter (@pualiping) and like my Facebook pageย to get latest blog updates first hand!
Don't be sad Charmaine! I also realised even own family tends to be selfish and realistic sometimes.
Anyway, wishing you a prosperous dragon year ๐
i saw siew yok!
Cheer up….. Of course CNY is best enjoy when we are younger. Anyway, you stil can have a great celebration with your loved ones. Wishing u a happy new year!
I hope you have a nice holiday, enjoy the food! Happy CNY! ๐
I feel you. In a way, I feel Chinese New Year forces relatives who haven't met at all in a year to get together. And to put it in an ugly manner, it is all for the ang paos for the kids.
it's sort of meaningless to me too – just CNY, again.. ๐
Nevertheless, Happy CNY! ๐
Thanks for all the kind wishes!
Happy CNY and Happy Holidays!
Can we all come and take angpau from you? XD
Hahaha cannot! I'm still single! XD
ah, the first photo make me feel i should appreciate of what i having now.. btw, Happy Chinese New Year~~ wishing you to have a wonderful Dragon Year~~~ XD
Well well well people do have their differences and could not get them into terms with each other. Look at the bright side just follow the flow and be with the flow after all its a yearly affair. Just enjoy it cheer up. Happy Holidays & GXFC.
i see lots of good food ๐ it's okay to have duck to replace chicken for the reunion dinner
Latest: Korean Reunion Style
So unfortunate of you to think so.
I for one, enjoy Chinese New Year, not because of angpow (which I rarely receive) or just the holidays I receive, but also the time to reunite my family together for dinner/lunch.
By the way, I'm not close to my family, so that's the only time I get to see them all together. LOL.
Cheer up! I believe CNY going to get better n better by year! ๐
Thanks! It's lonely without siblings though unlike you, surrounded by noisy siblings hahaha
Is that Bak Kut Teh?
The Siu Yuk looks good..n I love siu yuk ..
Happii CNY to you…..
Hahaha yes it is Bak Kut Teh, Hokkien's favorite food!
Happy CNY to you too! ^_^
Happened to find your site/blog through a friend of yours (sixthseal.com).
Although I like New Year's Eve, I can relate to your feelings towards meaninglessness (new word?) and gestures seeming empty.
Well, here's me, a total stranger, wishing you all the best for the year of the dragon. Hope it helps ๐
Regards from The Netherlands,
Maurice
Wow I'm thrilled!
Wishes from afar ๐
Thank you!
Poor dog. ๐
Anyway, I know what you mean. I was sitting at a table recently where the grandfather kind of refused to join in the lo sang just because everyone was going to start tossing without him. Sigh.
But I guess, sometimes it's hard to control some things with age.
Aww that's sad ๐
Anyway, Happy Chinese New Year to you!
Bet you didn't expect wishes to come from this far. Hihi ๐
By the way, somehow I couldn't reply to your reply, hence…a new comment.
Yeah I was really surprised.
Hmm not sure why the reply comment doesn't function in Chrome. It only works in Firefox ๐
Mmmm, that's too bad. Maybe that's also the reason why your pages are running slow on my pc. Although…., the data DO have to travel a long distance. Hahahaha.
I don't receive notifications of a reply either, because I can't leave a mail-address. So I have to physically check the pages that I left a comment on.
Ah well, if that's all the trouble predicted for a dragon in 2012….I'll get by. ๐
Aww that's too bad ๐ In that case, we can keep in touch via Facebook.
My FB page is on the right sidebar ๐
Hello pretty lady… GONG XI FA CAI to you. Don't feel so sad, whatever happens, it will only make you stronger. Stay true to yourself and avoid repeating others ppl mistakes. Life is short, we should all cherish it. =) SMILE YEA!
Hey Ms. Smith,
What you said is so true ๐
Thanks for reminding me, I will learn from their mistakes ๐
