Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax (2012)

The Lorax 1 | Dr. Seuss' The Lorax (2012)
The Lorax is an illustrated children’s book written by Dr. Seuss and first published back in 1971. The release of this movie coincided with the 108th birthday of Seuss so I think that it’s very thoughtful to make a movie to pay tribute to an author who cared so much for the environment. If you’d like to know more about the history of The Lorax, check out it’s Wiki.

Synopsis:
A 12-year-old boy searches for the one thing that will enable him to win the affection of the girl of his dreams. To find it he must discover the story of the Lorax, the grumpy yet charming creature who fights to protect his world.

Thoughts:
At first, I wasn’t really interested in this movie because I thought it’s just another cartoon but Clumsy Boy was kinda interested and won the tickets so we went. Since my expectation wasn’t very high, it didn’t disappoint me. I love the concept of a whole new world and imagine what the future might look like. Who could imagine that someday we would pay for fresh air?

Although The Lorax is not as hilarious compared to Despicable Me, but what’s more important is the meaning behind the story. Very often, people were blinded by greed and selfishness. Thinking that what they do is right, not bothering about the consequences that might be brought unto others until they were affected themselves. But it’s already too late.

I actually think that this movie is very suitable for adults too especially those who are doing business. Earning money is not wrong but make sure that you do not sacrifice the environment to gain profit.

Don’t waste your money watching 3D because most of the 3D effect is the subtitle. Plot wise, there’s only one thing I don’t understand. Why Once-ler doesn’t plant the last Truffula seed himself?
