In conjunction with the on going 1Malaysia Cupcake Challenge contest held by Celcom from 30 August 2012 – 23 September 2012, Celcom has came up with a cupcake workshop for bloggers and members of the media at The Cooking House, Desa Sri Hartamas. I felt so excited about it!
Our work space!
All the bloggers and members of the media waiting for the workshop to start

So our challenge of the day is to make a Malaysia flag with 24 cupcakes!
The photo below shows the recipe of cupcakes and the buttercream frosting but firstly, we must bake vanilla cupcakes first!
Vanilla cupcake recipe
Here’s the ingredients we need to make vanilla cupcakes!
Pastry chef in the making! ^_^
Cream the butter and sugar until white and fluffy
Fill paper cups about 2/3 full
After 13 minutes, it’s done! Our vanilla cupcakes!
Camwhore time! We had so much fun in the class.
Next, we need to make the buttercream toppings and put gel colorings accordingly. As you all know, Malaysia flag consists of 4 colors” red, blue, yellow and white. For the white color, we don’t need to put any coloring, just the original color from buttercream will do.
260g of icing sugar and 95g of butter for cupcake topping
After beating the butter until creamy, add sifted icing sugar
Beat until the icing sugar and butter are combined
Our dedicated instructor
Hey we made it!! A group photo with yours truly, Caroline and Umei =)
At the end of the day, we won a cookbook each! Yay!
We were really lucky to have Caroline in our group cos she’s so talented! Her work was really neat and she put so much effort in it *salute*. After all the hard work, we were in for a treat: LUNCH!
Roasted Chicken with Mashed Potato
Last but not least, I’d like to express my heartfelt thanks to our cupcake instructor so is so patient with us, keep coming to check our work and fix our mistakes and also gave us some tips in baking. Now I finally know how to make cupcakes! Maybe I can open my own cupcake business soon…. *daydreaming*
Anyway, the 1Malaysia Cupcake Challenge finale will be on 24th September 2012 whereby they will compile all the pictures and announce the winners.. All you have to do is decorate a cupcake with the 1Malaysia theme, take a photo and upload it here. Then, start to garner votes for your entry! By the way, Celcom is also giving out free cupcakes on 16 September 2012. To find out the location for the free cupcake and the challenge, check it out at https://www.facebook.com/cupcakeschallenge.
Ahhhh!!! So you were there too. Many bloggers blogging about this event. I wonder what Celcom has got to do with cupcakes. If it had been some cake ingredient or kitchen appliance company that is the sponsor, maybe I can see the connection, but Celcom???
I keep seeing pictures from this event. Sounded like heaps of fun! I shall participate in the competition if I can think up a nice design for the cuppies. Hmmm.
Making the cuppies was easy. Decorating was seriously tough. Needs very stable hands:p
Haha yah and a lot of dedication!
Congrats on the win! Very nice cupcakes indeed 🙂
Thanks babe!! Yummy indeed 😀
Great shots.. YAY we won!! 😀
Glad we were in same group!! XD
