Not long ago, my family and I planned to go Malacca during Chinese New Year holiday but unfortunately, we had to cancel it last minute because my left knee was in pain especially when I kneel down. I initially thought I sprained my knee or injured it without realizing. Last week, I went to my GP (general practitioner) for a consultation because I’m afraid there might be some underlying problems so it is better to get it treated before it is too late. Don’t care about whatever pantang already la (mum said during CNY cannot go hospital/clinic)! So the doctor said that it’s osteoarthritis. I couldn’t believe it because I’m still so young! The doctor then explained that young people will get it too although it mostly affects people after their 50s. Symptoms include:
  • Joint stiffness upon waking up
  • Pain when kneeling
  • Swelling joint
  • Creaking sound when you move
  • Joint pain after repetitive use
If a person has more than 30% of the symptoms, then he/she could be having osteoarthritis. So I guess I’m pretty much confirmed. 🙁 Osteoarthritis is a condition in which the natural cushioning between joints (cartilage) wears away due to wear and tear. When the bones rub closely against one another with less or without cartilage that functions to absorb shock, it will cause pain, swelling and stiffness. Osteoarthritis is not limited to knee only. It can affect any joint. If you’re experiencing hip pain, knee pain, back (spine) pain or shoulder pain, you could be having osteoarthritis.

I’m currently consuming Live-well OsteSAMIN Plus Chondroitin that contains the synergistic joint health nutrients, Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulphate that helps to speed up the reproduction and repair of cartilage. Besides, it can also reduce stiffness and inflammation of joints. So far, I’ve noticed some improvement on my condition. At least, my joint is not swollen anymore. I hope that with continuous consumption, my knee pain will be gone. Keeping my fingers crossed on this!
